November 2008 Gallery

Before the intercooler was stripped the water system was completely drained.

14th November and the chance to use a shed pit meant we had the time to conduct a through underframe exam. (we are surrounded by other resident diesel locos as well for some reason.....
A little blurred, but with the fibre glass roof section moved so the intercooler was clear, this is the view standing on the roof looking down towards the intercooler on the left and the turbocharger on the right.

The intercooler removed, this shows how the tuborcharger is linked to the inlet manifold via the intercooler

Another view of the same area without the intercooler in place

Andy Pepper surves the "old" intercooler core, it was better than expected but is blocked deep inside the core

Nigel Ball (left) Andy Pepper (centre) and Rory .......... (right) the skilled members in the final stages of re-assembling the intercooler

While the intercooler was out I took the chance to degrease the area normally hard to reach when the power unit is fully assembled

The final assembly being craned back into the loco, the assembly will receive a lick of paint soon.

Taken just before the lunch break, this is the closest this loco has got to covered accomdation in years......
