Below is a selection of Pictures showing the events after D5401 Automatic Voltage Regulator AVR gave up and needed serious attention. 

Above is the old AVR removed from the locomotive shortly after its demise

Above is a spare unit in a dismantled state, not having worked for 25 years it needed cleaning/testing and various attention

Once rigged up to a varying 110 volt supply, the moving coil motor was tested and other than a little sticky it worked well and so was put together and placed in the loco the following day (26th April 2009) and once the loco was started it performed exceptionally well considering it has been stored for many years
