D5401 (27056) Cab No1 renovation continues slowly with the fitting of the refurbished cab locker, the bulkhead behind the locker was scraped, sanded and painted before fitting.
The remaining cab bulkhead still requires rubbing down and painting but with the cold weather approaching again it may not happen until the warmer weather arrives. Other removable items from Cab no2 have been taken home for renovation during the winter period such items as driver's desk surround, cab locker, internal door panelling
The last day of running using booked loco D5401 on the summer timetable was on the weekend 15th/16th October, a picture while waiting at the Outer Home Signal at Loughborough on the Dn Main
D5185 has had a small but required first milestone towards its overhaul recently with the completion of the first auxillary machine ready for installation at a later date. The spare combined pump unit was pulled from store which has been heavily cleaned, thoroughly examined and rebuilt with exceptional detail.
