A fuel pressure gauge was added to the system for means of testing the pressure output from the fuel pump and as can be seen from here during priming the pressure is good.

One of the Negative battery leads that had a melted terminal, the lead was repaired and new lugs obtained and crimped, also the chance was taken to add heat shrink over the exposed lugs so this problem doesn't rise again.

 

D5401 stood with Deltic D9019 at Loughborough Station during the September Diesel Gala, This event was a hugh success and has paved the way for more guests in future gala events

As mentioned in the Latest News Section, Cab No1 secondman desk has been stripped of some parts for restoration at home, this shows the stripped state of the desk, old paint will be removed and repainted into the Deep Bronze Green finish as time permits over the Winter.

During October Anti-freeze was added to D5401 coolant system for the first time since the major system rebuild and only one minor leak showed (picture Right) this has been temporary repaired pending retapping of the bolts at some point soon. The Left picture shows D5401 in the company of GCR visitors of 92203 Black Prince (GWR) and Fairburn tank 42085 (LHR) while this was done. Both steam locos have since moved back to there respective homes.
